Exploring Large Social Networks with Matrix-Based Representations [pdf]

This Ph. D. bridges information visualization, social network analysis and graph drawing. In this thesis, I focused on visualization and interaction to navigate, explore and present large social networks. I particularly investigated the use of adjacency matrix-based representations, combining and merging them with traditionnal node-link diagrams. [more...]

2003-2004        Research Master in Computer Science, LIRIS Research Lab, France

Modélisation d'environnements naturels complexes: les forêts [pdf ]

This research deals with 3D modeling and realistic rendering. In this thesis, I designed and implemented a set of tools to make forest sceneries more realistic. These tools support the procedural generation and integration of fractures to trees and branches, as well as the modeling and scattering of twigs.

2001-2004        Engineering Diploma in Computer Science, INSA Lyon, France

1999-2001        Degree (DUT) in Computer Science, IUT Orsay, France

Employment

nov 2008           Researcher Position, VIBE, Microsoft Research, US

2008                  Post-doc position, ReActivity, Microsoft Research-INRIA, France

2004-2007        Teaching position (~70 hours per year), IUT Orsay, France

Introduction to Information visualization, undergraduate project, 14 students designing and implementing an email visualization system: EmailVis, ~60h.
Designing information systems with UML, undergraduate tutorial and practicals, ~60h.
Introduction to software engineering: methods and philosphy, adult formation, ~10h.
Introduction to XML, undergraduate course and practicals, ~13h.

mar-sep 2003   Internship, Vis Research Lab, Australia

During this internship I meet for the first time the field of Information Visualization. I did some work in visual programming and brought a small contribution to JBeanStudio by adding components to do basic 3D Modeling. I was also interested in neural networks and implemented my first self-organizing map!

jun-sep 2002    Internship, Silesky Marketing Inc., US

I spent 3 months in an american startup ran by a guy with lots of amazing ideas. I did some design and development of websites and also implemented a website automatic generator in java using JavaDom to explore XML trees.

apr-jun 2001    Internship, SSDMV Research Lab, UK

This internship was my first one. I did the analysis of the lab website in UML. Then I develop a component to submit papers to a conference in Php & mySQL.
